T-Relay 8 Channel Basic "powering" Questions
-
Hi,
sorry, if this was asked already. Could not find the answer scrolling through the posts.
So I just bought the T-Relay 8 Channel, which I'd like to use in the Thermostat Climate Controller (esphome.io) project with Home Assistant.
I see that the board takes in 5-24V DC (written on the box of the board), or 12-24V DC (written on the page). Both seen here: https://www.lilygo.cc/products/t-relay-5v-8-channel-relay
Anyhow, I'll use the 24V DC power supply.
Question 1: Does the board also do the step down from 24V DC to 3.3V to power ESP32, or do I need to power ESP32 separately via the a.) USB or b.) 3V3 & GND pin?
Question 2: My valve is 24V AC. Does the relay convert DC to AC? Or do I need to provide a separate power supply which is 24V AC in this case?
Thanks for your help.

Hi I'm just a community user here:
1)The board will accept upto 24volts Direct Current (DC only) as it has an onboard regulator to bring it down to 5V and another regulator to step down to 3.3V for the ESP.
2) The relays are dry contact so they will switch anything upto the rating that you can see on the relay body itself, but <=24 AC/DC is obviously recommended. You will need 2 power supplies! The 5V-24VDC input will work with a cellphone charger, I think, but the relay dry contacts will switch the other AC power supply

@teastain2 Thanks Terry! Appreciate the answer!
Will go with 24VDC for the board, and then use another power supply for the relay dry contacts.
